Sri Lankan fare in East London

Following the success of our award winning design for Kolamba’s first site in Soho (completed 2019), we were asked by the team to design the interiors for Kolamba East, the more elevated, grown up second site in London’s Spitalfields. The design is harmoniously continued in the material and colour palette, incorporating rough plaster, industrial brickwork and subtle hints of tropical timbers.
Central to the design are custom elements such as a bustling bar. Serving as the focal point it enveloped with an Oasis Green marble crazy paving floor – paying homage to the large-format terrazzo of the Soho site but in a more elevated manner

Through close collaboration with the Meewellas, FARE INC. has infused the space with Sri Lankan culture, integrating elements such as Sonali Dharmawardena’s batik fabrics, handmade dining chairs, and lotus table lamps crafted by artisans from Colombo. This approach captures the essence of Sri Lanka’s rich heritage while honouring contemporary design principles.
